High Days and Holidays

  • by

I am an ardent atheist and that is extremely unlikely to change. I would have until recently called myself a humanist, but then people have revealed themselves to be pretty terrible. So I don’t know where that leaves me.

I can say there are are a small and select group of people who have shown that they aren’t terrible, but after the last few years I have become gun shy of the trust I would place in people. I have in spite of all of that I should try a little harder to be hopeful with the ones that have proven themselves and maybe my faith in the rest of the world will be restored.

In the midst of a very crap couple of years there have been bright spots. The brightest of course has been Lillith and I can’t wait to see what the years to follow will bring. There have also been wonderful friendships both old and new and they have been so cherished.

So to those that I care for and might just care for me I want to say as we head into a long winter and an uncertain future that I am happy to have you in my life.

So while some of us are where we want to be and others of us are not, we can make the best of what we have until the world moves from a cold, dark lonely winter into the light and warmth of spring.

Make merry while you can and hope that tomorrow brings more joy, but don’t wait to experience life or you might find that you have missed it.

I love you my Lillith and I know our future will have many more wonderful days to come.

Happy Holidays to everyone else, no matter what form those holidays take.

Michael
