Time after time

There are many things that there is always more of. Money, food, work. But there is one thing that there will never be more of.

Time

Time is precious, we each have a finite supply and we don’t know how long we have. To be honest in my youth I never thought I would make it for as long as I have. But here I am, with more of my life behind me than there is before me. And that is how I show how much I care about someone. By spending my time on them. The hours in each and every day are chopped up between the things I have to do and the things I want to do. I have to do work because I have to make money. I have to shower because otherwise I stink. I have to do laundry to have clean clothes. I have to do shopping because eating is something that has to be done.

There are a million other things that nibble away at the hours that make up a day and we still haven’t gotten to the things we actually want to do. Even now, as I write this post I am supposed to be recording two audio stories and writing a guest post. I am updating a server, attempting to fix another website, working on Eroticon stuff, doing laundry, cleaning the kitchen and thinking about Lillith.

Whew, I am exhausted just thinking about it all, never mind doing it. Thing is that I know that the things you have to do expand to fill all the time you have and even if each day was 48 hours long the work and chores to be done will fill every last second.

And here I come to my actual point. With all that is going on I still get to decide. I get to decide how I spend my time. What work I do first and even if I decide to put that off and spend that time on someone or something that means something to me. Like writing this post. I have decided to spend some of my precious time on me. Because no one gets to the end of their lives and thinks that they should have spent more time working.

I do my best to take time for those I love and those that love me. For those I care about and those that care about me. That’s my love language… the time I spend on you, notice it, think about it, cherish it. I know it isn’t money or fancy clothes or a new car, or a luxury vacation.

But it is the most precious thing that any of us have. So spend it wisely.

Michael
